In honor of my 100th blog post, (which I wrote yesterday, but let’s pretend THIS IS IT) I’m giving away a One Pound Gift Certificate for See’s Candies.
One Lucky Winner (or maybe TWO) will receive one of these babies:
You could soon be stuffing your face full of the delectable yumminess that is See’s Candy. It goes great with a glass of white wine, or so I’ve heard. If you’re not familiar with See’s, go here: www.sees.com to see what you’ve been missing. No See’s Candies near you? Fret not, you can order online!
All you have to do is share your favorite dessert in the comment section. I’ll close the contest on Sunday Night so that everyone has an opportunity to participate. And also, so that my sister isn’t the winner by default. Don’t make it easy on her, people! Jeremy will randomly pick the winner by drawing names out of his hat, or something like that.
Here, I’ll start: I love a warm brownie with vanilla ice cream, topped with hot fudge. It’s even better if I don’t have to share!
Check back Monday morning for the winner. Happy 100th blog post to ME!
Technical Difficulties
Photobucket seems to be experiencing some technical difficulties. So any of my photos that run from my photobucket feed (about 99% of them) aren’t appearing on my blog right now.
I’m so sorry, but there’s just not a thing I can do. Hopefully they’ll have the issue resolved right away and things will be back to normal soon!
In other news, this happens to be my 100th blog post. I was hoping to do something special for my 100th, like maybe a contest and giveaway, but things don’t always work out as planned.
We’ll see what tomorrow brings, and go from there!
Gemini
One day, years ago, I woke up and realized I was surrounded by Gemini. Not in the “come out with your hands up” sort of way. It’s more of a, ‘Dang I buy a lot of presents in June,’ observation.
It makes complete sense to me, then, that both my husband and my very best friend are Gemini. And miracle of miracles – not only do they get along, they approve of each other. Life doesn’t get a whole lot better than that.
Today, my very best friend is having a birthday. One that I can’t celebrate with her because she moved all the way to New York, Brooklyn in fact, two years ago. And way out there she has a life that she loves, one that I’m not a part of. Not for a lack of invitations to visit, but so far I’ve had either a baby in my belly or a baby hanging on my boob. A baby who could have been born a Gemini, had I crossed my legs for a few extra days.
The consolation for having a very best friend who lives all the way across the continent is history.
Blackmail worthy history. If I ever decide to run for government office? My enemies could bring me down in one fell swoop, should they ever coax her to their side.
(Apparently I wore that outfit every day.)
From the outside, we are more different than we are alike. But on the inside, I am not complete without her. She knew me before I knew myself, and helped shape me into the person I am today. For seventeen years now, I have relied on her to bring balance to my chaos, and she has done so unfailingly. Ever the voice of reason, she has propped me back up countless times.
I only hope I have done the same for her. I love you, girl. Happy Birthday.
Gold Trophy
As I went through all of Alison’s stuff this weekend, I came across a tiny charm she received from her Tante Rae for her first birthday. It was in a ceramic tooth on top of her dresser.
“I’m putting this in your jewelry box,” I told her, “I’d hate for it to get lost.”
“But that’s where I keep it.” She said, snatching it out of my hands. “It’s my gold trophy. It’s very special, and it’s just for me.”
I watched as she lovingly wrapped it in tissue and tucked it into the tooth, as she obviously had so many times before.
Brutally Honest Monday
It’s my first time participating in Mrs. Flinger’s Brutally Honest Monday. Leave me a comment, and be brutally honest! (Rachel, I’m looking at you). FUN! I was looking for a tan color, but Target only had brown or cream. I went with brown based on the whole stain factor. Now that it’s on the floor, I’m just not sure. Is there all together too much brown for a little girl’s room? Should I return it for the cream one?
I spent the weekend moving Alison into Blythe’s room and Blythe into Alison’s room. Why? Mainly because I like to drive myself crazy. Anyway, I had to make an *emergency* trip to Target to buy a rug, and I’m not sure I made the right decision.
Blythe’s bedding ensemble is brown, pink and camel.
What do you think?
